Knucklebones games is working on something new

We’re working on a new project, one a little smaller than a full sized RPG. Something small enough, in fact, to fit in a dice bag.

No, it’s not dice. Although that might happen too.

We’re working on a tarot deck specifically designed to help GMs and players with adventure and character generation. There have been other random RPG generation decks made, but ours will be a full 78 card tarot deck, with a standard fantasy theme to make it as flexible and independent of any one RPG system. As soon as we have enough designed to show it off, we will probably set up either a Kickstarter or Indiegogo account and see if there are enough people interested to do a large print run. If not, we’ll probably use a print-on-demand company so that it will still be available to anyone who wants it, we just won’t need a large chunk of capital to pre-order a few thousand and pay for storage space.

If it does well, we may expand and do different themed and styled versions of the same deck. As the designer of Gallows and Glory, I’ve found that Lo Scarabeo’s “Tarot of the Pirates” has helped give inspiration and ideas for modules, people and places while I’m running beta games, even though it’s not geared towards gaming. If we can make tarot decks specifically designed to help give inspiration to gamers for any other settings, including cyperpunk, steampunk, sci-fi, fantasy, swashbuckling pirate adventures, etc., then we’ve done our jobs.
